Fan Creation of the Week: The Art of Deiv Calviz

This week's community spotlight shines brightly on Deiv Calviz and his incredible renditions of each of the Diablo III hero classes, as well as a host of the finest and fiercest denizens of the Burning Hells. Deiv Calviz was nice enough to take some time out of his busy day to answer a few questions we had for him. Read on for the full interview, and check out his Barbarian progress video below!

Q. You created some amazing pieces of Diablo III fan art which feature all five hero classes. Which piece was the most challenging for you?
First of all, thanks a lot for this rare privilege!

My initial plan was actually to join the Diablo 3 Portrait of a Champion Contest. Unfortunately, I didn't finish but I continued creating these just for fun.

The most challenging piece was the Barbarian because it was the first one I did. From the start, I wanted to feature all five classes. I was still figuring out what my goals were for the set so a lot of experimentation went on. I struggled with the composition, anatomy and the actual painting process. The upside was that I also learned the most from it.

Q. Which is your favorite piece?
My favorite would be the Monk piece next to the Witchdoctor piece. Maybe I'm a bit biased since I play a monk in Diablo III but I really enjoyed the challenge this piece had. Drawing all those cultists, making the monk look awesome, and balancing everything together in a tight shot was very challenging and fun. I think Blizzard did a great job designing the iconic look of the Monk so I tried my best to represent it with a little personal touch.

To those wondering, each piece took me around 20-25 hours.

Q. Do you have any other Diablo-themed pieces in the works?
Currently, I'm not working on any Diablo-themed pieces since I have other artworks to finish first. Hopefully in the near future, I’d be able to make an awesome artwork of Diablo himself. If anyone is interested, I recently made a few artworks that were inspired by the monsters from Diablo at my website.

Q. What tips do you have for aspiring artists out there?
Well, first of all, imagine yourself doing art almost every day. If you think that it makes you happy, then, go for it. You really have to love it if you want to get good at it.

Before all of this, I got to a point where I was too uninspired to do art. I began to question myself if it was really what I wanted to do. I had a non art-related job that I didn't like for months. That made me realize how much I had taken art for granted, so I started managing my time to fit in some art every day. It's something I still need to improve even today. buy diablo gold

When it comes to skills, the information that you need is in front of you already. You have to take advantage of the internet and put in the hours. Just don't forget that you MUST study the basics first before jumping into any superficial digital stuff like custom textured brushes, lens flares, photo filters, and what not. You should also be honest with yourself and compare the quality of your work with those who are already in the industry and constantly push yourself to be as good as or even better than them. Have a list of artists that you like and study how they work. Never stop learning.

In the end, just like anything in life, it all boils down to how much you are willing to sacrifice to get what you want.

Guesting Adds to Guild Wars 2 January 28th

 


      Last year when Guild Wars 2 was launched, ArenaNet promised the Guesting feature, and it seems the wait for the feature is coming to an end. According to ArenaNet Community Team Lead Martin Kerstein, the Guesting feature will arrive with the January 28th update.

     In case you're unfamiliar with the Guesting feature, it will allow you to play on a different world (server) of your choosing. It’s not a server transfer, so you’ll just be playing there temporarily, allowing you to group up with friends that may be on different servers or just see what the community is like elsewhere.cheap Wars 2 gold


     Guesting does come with a few restrictions.
     Because (different from a world transfer) we are not moving your character between data centers, you may only guest on worlds in the same region as your home world. Players on North American home worlds cannot guest on European worlds or vice versa.

    You may not participate in World vs. World on your guest world. If you choose to enter World vs. World on the world you are guesting on, you’ll be moved back to your home world. If you want to play World vs. World on the world you’re guesting on, you must perform a full world transfer to that world.

    You’re eligible to guest on only 2 different worlds at a time. Each time you guest on a world, that world becomes one of your eligible guest worlds for the next 24 hours. After 24 hours, you may choose to guest on a different world. You may log in to any world you are eligible to guest on as many times as you wish with no restriction. buy or sell GW2 gold

   Guesting on worlds that are full or highly populated increases your risk of being put into an overflow map.

   ArenaNet has also announced the end of free server transfers once the update goes live, so make sure that you're rooted on the server world that you want to be on before the January 28th update. After that, you’ll have to pay a fee that is based on the destination server’s population to transfer and you’ll be limited to one move every seven days.

Runescape Quizmas Survey Results

    Before Christmas, we held a festive quiz that was streamed live on YouTube, and we asked the RuneScape community to help us generate the questions by completing a short survey about RuneScape stuff, such as “what are your top three updates of 2012?” and “would you prefer a Trolling or Sailing skill?”. It wasn't an official survey and was designed to collect community sentiment for the quiz, but it really helped.    Recently seen a lot of people in the theoretical debate 10:1, part of the understanding is there is an error, they generally agreed that:
6000 Armor 400 resistance, armor: Resistance = 15:1 (15:00 Armor 1:00 Resistance equivalents)Diablo 3 gold

Armor: Resistance = 10:1 (10:00 1:00 Armor equivalent resistance 5000 Armor 500 resistance.)
Armor: Resistance = 5:1 (5:00 Armor 3000 Armor 600 resistance, equivalent resistance 1:00)
7000 Armor 1000 resistance Armor: Resistance = 7:1 (7:00 Armor 1:00 Resistance equivalents)
This view is wrong, let me talk about the wrong in what place. We start talking about ehp formula, of course, the EHP formula only consider the armor and resistance factors.
